Explore - Five Week Credit Program

writing in a classroom

The summer session of Explore is returning to IN-PERSON learning in 2022.

In accordance with the COVID-19 vaccination policy at Western University, all participants of in-person programming in Trois-Pistoles will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination, unless granted a rare exemption by Western.

French immersion and the town of Trois-Pistoles are made for each other. At the French Immersion School, we emphasize an integrated approach to learning. All elements of the program - the courses, the workshops, the homestay and the social and cultural activities - reinforce one another and maximize opportunities for you to hear and speak French and to enrich your cultural experience.

  • Earn a full-year university credit from Western University
  • Improve your vocabulary and pronunciation
  • Practice your speaking skills with other students at the same level of French
  • Explore and enjoy the culture of Quebec
  • Make lasting memories while experiencing something totally unique

 * If you would prefer an online immersion experience, please see our spring session.

Take one full course or two half courses (75 hours) to earn a full-year university credit.

How to Apply for the Explore Bursary

If you are eligible for the Explore bursary, please apply before the deadline.

Step One

Apply online for an Explore Bursary.  Remember to select our school as your first choice.

Step Two

Follow the application instructions on the Explore website and submit all required documents to the Explore portal by the deadline.

* For Western students: As an exception in 2022, the Explore office will accept a copy of your Statement of Account from Student Center as proof of enrollment at Western in lieu of getting the Declaration Form stamped and signed. You will still need to sign the Declaration Form yourself and submit it along with a copy of your Statement of Account to the Explore portal.

Step Three

Wait for the draw results. Bursaries are awarded by random draw at the end of March and if you have been awarded the bursary you will be notified by both your provincial coordinator and by Western University.  (You might be put on a waiting list. If so, we will contact you as soon as your name is drawn from the list).
