Community Connection

As part of the immersion experience you are placed with a specially chosen Quebecois family for room and board for the entire session. Allowing you to continue to learn outside the classroom and experience first-hand the French culture and language, providing you with the opportunity to broaden and develop your language skills in an informal, homelike setting. The relationship between you and the host family flourishes as both explore and develop the personal, educational, and cultural aspects of the program.

Please note that 'host family' may mean a couple with or without children, or a single person with or without children. During your stay, the host families will provide well-balanced meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - which will allow you to experience quebecois cuisine while improving your language skills through conversation.

100% French Immersion

The hosts will encourage the exclusive use of French in the home.

Health and Safety Guidelines

As part of a strengthened COVID-19 vaccination policy at Western University, all members of our community participating in in-person programming – including students, employees and host families – will be required to demonstrate proof of vaccination, unless granted a rare exemption by Western.

To keep all community members safe, we will be implementing additional health and safety measures, including enhanced cleaning and sanitation of common areas, and a reduction in the number of people living and dining in one home.
